Robert KALENDAREV was born on December 15th, 1941 in Kokand (Uzbekistan). In 1949 he joined the secondary school which he graduated in 1959.

From 1959, Dr. Robert Kalendarev has studied at the Physics Department of the University of Latvia, which he has graduated in 1964. His Msc thesis was devoted to studies of photostimulated exoelectron emission from irradiated ionic crystals.

From 1966, he worked at University of Latvia. He has maintained his Ph.D. thesis in 1973. The title of the thesis was "Influence of Defects on Photoelectrical Properties of Tetracene and Tetraoxotetracene". From 1975 his scientific activities are concerned with studies of photostimulated structural changes in molecular amorphous and crystalline solids (yellow arsenic and white phosphorus). In these studies differential thermic analysis, infrared and Raman spectroscopy, electron spin resonance, x-ray diffractometry, optical and sensitometrical measurements were used. His recent scientific activities are concerned mainly with electrochemical investigation of materials containing transition metals ions and vacuum technologies.

He has more than 30 publications, including one paper in Nature, and h-index=5, according to ISI WEB of Science Database as of May, 2011.
